MediQuest Staff are Professional First Responders
The staff at MediQuest are professional First Responders and have many years of experience in responding to medical and other types of emergencies. This experience has taught us that the most successful outcomes arise from the quick action of bystanders at the scene of the emergency, particularly when a sudden cardiac arrest occurs.
With this in mind MediQuest is focused on providing simple procedures and equipment for on-scene responders to provide the treatments that will result in the best outcomes for injured individuals.
Cardiac Arrest kills more people each year in North America than any other single cause. More than 1,200 people die each day from sudden cardiac arrest. Sadly, more than half of these people die because the necessary life saving treatment (defibrillation) is not provided quickly enough to save their lives. But the technology is now available for on-scene bystanders to administer this treatment with minimal training and virtually no chance of making a mistake in the treatment.
In addition to basic CPR training the only other piece of equipment needed to save many of these lives is an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Like fire extinguishers, these devices should be placed for easy access and quick response to this common medical emergency. If this quick response was available throughout Canada more than 20,000 lives could be saved this year.
MediQuest is dedicated to ensuring that as many of these lives as possible are saved. We have partnered with many organizations including Sandoz Canada, London Drugs, the Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome Foundation of Canada, and the Gianfranco Giammaria Memorial Society to promote the awareness of sudden cardiac arrest and its treatment.
